Hydroflask Wine Tumbler
Because hiking then wine just makes sense! We love using these Hydroflask Wine Tumblers when we are camping, out at music in the park or a picnic after a nice long hike! Not only does it keep your wine chilled but it also keeps it safe! It’s like a sippy cup for adults. Trust us, this is an important item to have in your bag! Maybe order 1 for you and 1 for your outdoor wine lover!
Hiking Guide Book
Bubba Suess (the author of this amazing hiking guide book) and Hike Then Wine have been following each other’s adventures in the blogosphere for quite some time now. The detailed descriptions of the hikes and the insider knowledge of more than 600 miles of trails in Northern California comes from someone who has been living in Northern California most of his life! One day, we will get to hike with him. Until then, grab his amazing book of 80+ diverse hikes in our beautiful slice of the world and add it under the tree!
Let’s Talk Socks!
We all know the bosslady is super picky about what she wears, it has to be soft and comfortable yet very durable and functional. Not an easy woman to please! Her favorite hiking socks to wear are Thorlos! The padding in the heel and the ball of the foot with the thinner fabric every where else is super appealing to her for so many reasons. One, she sweats like crazy! Feet are no exception to this! Two, she wants things to be soft and not feel the seams. These are super comfy. Three, they come in great colors…each color to match her mood! Your favorite outdoors person would love to have these socks in their stocking!
Keep Your Noggin’ Warm!
It can get cold in Northern California! Don’t forget to keep your head warm and the heat in! Wind can also be a factor. The hubs has a large collection of hats and beanies. The bosslady is trying to keep up with the hubs while still staying stylish and keeping her ears warm. The hubs prefers the thicker beanie while the bosslady prefers the lighter ones that are not wool. If your loved one enjoys hiking in the chilly weather beanies will surely be a hit!
Keep Your Fingers Warm!
Great light 4-way stretch fabric gloves with touch screen fingertips are great for hiking! They allow you to still use your phone to post your amazing adventure to Instagram without having to take your gloves off! Win-Win! It isn’t often we use gloves. It mostly is the hubs that does use gloves. If he doesn’t read this post the bosslady is definitely getting him a pair of these if he can stay on the Nice List!
These Shoes Were Made For Hiking
And that’s just what they’ll do…One of these days these
boots shoes are gonna walk all over you the mountains! Seriously though. The hubs and bosslady prefer trail running shoes for hiking so they have grip, can maneuver around tight spaces, and are comfy for 10+ miles each day. Merrell has been a favorite of theirs since they started gearing up for longer more frequent hikes in the past several years. These are comfortable all day, breathable, and grip so good the bosslady rarely slips in these. Doesn’t stop her from tripping but does stop them slipping! It would be hard to buy someone else a pair of shoes but maybe take them out to lunch and shoe shopping for their present!
Keep His Core Warm
The hubs has been waiting for the Patagonia vest to go on sale! If you haven’t seen in some of the pics he is usually wearing a vest in the morning. Vests keep him nice and toasty until we get going on the hikes! We are slightly partial to Patagonia and probably always will be. We met while working there and truly believe in their products and their company philosophy. It helps that they are not only stylish items to wear but also do the job they were built to do. This vest keeps you warm while letting it breathe. Super important when hiking! Anyone receiving this all wrapped up would be super excited!
Keep Her Warm
Have you seen the pics of the bosslady? She has a favorite lightweight jacket that she wears on most hikes. Time for a replacement! This jacket is stretchy to move with you, a hood to keep the wind off your head, and is zip up for easy on and off which is perfect to wear comfortably under a heavier jacket for super cold hikes or on its own for our everyday hikes. The zip-up pockets are handy and the thumb holes are great to keep your hands warm without having to put gloves on. This is on the bosslady’s wishlist to be under the tree this year!
Base Layers
Base layers keep you comfy while winter hiking or winter camping! They wick the sweat away from you while letting you breathe which makes these lightweight Patagonia Capilene baselayers perfect! We haven’t worked at Patagonia for almost 20 years now and we still wear our Capilene we got while working there. Patagonia products last forever and perform extremely well! So happy we have these and anyone on your list that enjoys getting outside in any weather will totally appreciate these!
Hydration!
Every outdoor adventure needs good hydration! The bosslady adds Ultima Replenisher hydration powder to the water in her Osprey water bladder. This gives her the electrolytes, minerals, and sodium needed to keep up with the hubs. He uses Gatorade powder in his water bladder. We have been using the Osprey bladders for a couple of years now and they are working great! We haven’t had any leaks, they fill super easy with the wide top and come clean with the handy cleaning kit. We get to hang them and keep them open after cleaning so they don’t mold on the inside. These would be great additions to add to an Osprey backpack as a bundled gift for your special outdoorsy friend!
Backpacks
Have we mentioned how much we love our Osprey backpacks?!?! The torso is adjustable up and down to fit your body specifically and has a ventilated tensioned mesh back panel to keep your back cool and let air flow through. Pockets galore with one on each side of the hip belt, 2 water bottle pockets that tighten, a bladder, 3 pockets in the back to keep items separate (handy for someone hiking with camera equipment), and a rain cover for those extra fun waterfall adventures! Oh, and the colors are beautiful too! We don’t leave home without these and neither should your outdoor lover! Throw in all of the items above to make someone especially happy!
Lighting!
Have you been hiking through a bat cave? How about a sunset/moonrise hike? This are just a couple of instances when we have used our headlamps on our hikes. These Black Diamond LED headlamps are adjustable and the strap is soft which is very important for our comfort while hiking! The light is enough for us to get through all of our hikes so far! If you have an adventurer on your list this would be a great addition to their tools!
Capture the Adventure!
Have you seen the video of the bosslady ziplining? How about our hikes on YouTube? All of these videos have been taken on our GoPro Hero 5. Of course, we would love to upgrade to the GoPro Hero 7 one day but for now, we are good with our 5. The video is amazing and the sound is perfect! A tiny little video camera does so much! Video, wide-angle photos, and delayed shots all by a push of a button or by voice command. Incredible! This would be the perfect addition to anyone’s adventure arsenal!
Now that we have talked your ears off about all of these amazing gifts for the outdoor lover, are you going to shop?? Hope we gave you some good ideas and you get to get outside and enjoy these with your favorite outdoorsy person….or perhaps you want to order just for yourself?? No shame in that!
Wishing you peace, love, and joy this holiday season with a lot of fresh air and exciting adventures!!
See you on the trails!
